Owner / Principal / Ballet
Tania Whelan began her training in North QLD at Croft Gilchrist School of Dancing and then as a teenager at Sayers Dance Centre in Brisbane. After 6 years of teaching under Vivianne and Nadine Sayers, she took over their Bardon location - renaming it The Premier Dance Academy - which she soon moved to Milton. Tania later added the Clayfield location of Premier Dance.
Tania received a distinction for her Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Certificate in Dance Teaching Studies and has also completed the RAD Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies.
Tania has owned Premier Dance since 1994 and has been a voluntary member of the RAD regional panel since 1995.
Chelsea has worked at Premier Dance since 2017. Chelsea is currently undertaking a dual degree in Bachelor of Business (International Business) and Bachelor of Arts (Chinese/International Relations) at The University of Queensland. She was also a student at Premier from 2005-2016.

Miss Sophie has worked at Premier Dance as a teacher since 2016. She holds a Diploma in Dance from QUT (2013), a Diploma in Performing Arts from ED5 International (2015) and has also completed her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies from the Royal Academy of Dance. Sophie was a student at Premier Dance from 1999 - 2013 and a student teacher from 2011 - 2013.
Ballet / Jazz
Karissa has been a teacher at Premier Dance since 2012. She is a registered teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), and a registered teacher of the Australasian Dance Association (ADA), holding Advanced Diploma in jazz and Elementary Diploma in classical ballet and tap. Karissa has a Diploma in Dance and a Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Managment. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood & Primary), as well as Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Miss Katie has worked at Premier Dance as a teacher since 2013. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) from QUT and has also completed her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies from the Royal Academy of Dance. Katie was a student at Premier Dance from 2000 - 2013 and a student teacher from 2009- 2012.

Miss Dymie has worked at Premier Dance since 2017 and has over 10 years of professional experience as a dancer, choreographer and actor. She has completed RAD syllabus to Advanced 2, holds a Certificate IV in Performing Arts from ED5 International (Sydney), is a certified Pilates Instructor in Mat & Apparatus, and is a graduate of L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Acting (Paris). Dymphna is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Psychological Science (3rd Year) at The University of Queensland. She was also a student at Premier Dance from 1994 - 2006.

Miss Simone has worked at Premier Dance since 2012. Simone has 30 years of teaching & choreographing experience. As a second generation dance teacher, she began her training under her mother Helene Atthow, then attended the Queensland Dance School of Excellence where she gained her ARAD. She then dance with the Queensland Ballet company and Expressions Dance Company as a professional dancer.
Miss Charlotte has worked at Premier Dance since 2008, primarly at the Clayfield location. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) from QUT and has also completed her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies from the Royal Academy of Dance. Charlotte was a student at Premier Dance from 2001 - 2004.
Ballet / Stretch & Conditioning / Contemporary
Miss Lilly has taught at Premier Dance since 2016. She is an RAD Registered Teacher, having completed Advanced 2 ARAD and also the RAD Certificate in Dance Teaching Studies. Lilly holds a Diploma in Dance with Queensland Conservatoire of Dance and also studied at the New Zealand School of Dance. She is Xtend Barre Trained, with a Diploma in Pilates with Polestar Pilates and a Diploma in Personal Training.
Ballet / Stretch & Conditioning
Tristan trained at Premier Dance from eight years of age until completing RAD Advanced 2. He went on to study in the Queensland Ballet Pre-Professional Program and at Tanya Pearson Academy, joining the Victorian State Ballet in 2018.
Tristan has been a guest artist with Projection Dance, Melbourne Academy of the Arts, Byron Ballet and Ballet Theatre Queensland, among others. He has taught with Queensland Ballet education team since 2020.
Mr Tama has worked at Premier Dance since 2019. Tama trained at Ecole Classique in Sydney under Prudence Bowen where he completed the RAD syllabus to Advanced 2. He then gained an Advanced Diploma in Dance from the Australian Ballet School and holds a Bachelor of Psychological Sciences (Hons 1st Class) from the University of Queensland. Tama danced with the Queensland Ballet company from 1999 - 2006 and the Scottish Ballet from 2006, bring promoted to Principal Artist in 2008.
Tama is currently undertaking a PhD in psychology at the University of Queensland, exploring the Career transitions of elite performing artists: From education to retirement..
Jazz / Ballet
Miss Emma has been working at Premier as a teacher since 2018, and a student teacher 2014-2017. Emma trained at Premier Dance from the age of three, completing all RAD grades up to Advanced 2, and then studied full-time at Davidia Lind Dance Centre, obtaining a Diploma in Musical Theatre and an Advanced Diploma in Elite Dance Performance. Since 2018 Emma has been performing around the world with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, returning home in between contracts to teach the students of Premier Dance.
Miss Louise has worked at Premier Dance previously and will return to coach the senior school in 2020. Louise is a graduate of the Australian Ballet School and has worked as a professional dancer with the West Australian Ballet and Sydney Dance Company. She has since worked as a freelance artist across Europe, the USA and Australia, where she continues to teach and choreograph in classical and contemporary styles.
Louise founded Brisbane International Contemporary Dance Prix in 2018 to educate, inspire and create pathways for emerging dancers into the professional industry of contemporary dance. This hugely successful program connects and draws choreographers, coaches and directors from across the globe.
Anna trained with Valeria Hansen in Rockhampton before undertaking full time classical studies with Scully Borovansky - Messrs Nellie Potts and Kathleen Daintree [Sydney] achieving her RAD Solo Seal. After receiving a scholarship, she moved overseas to commence training with the Centre de Danse Internationale de Rosella Hightower [Cannes]; undertook classes with Marika Bessobrasova, [Monte Carlos] and Raymond Franchetti and Gibert Mayer [Paris Opera]; Carolyn Carlson and Matt Mattox[Contemporary and Jazz studies Paris]. Her performance career included time with The Ballets de Marseilles, The Ballet Theatre - Joseph Russillo (Paris), Australian Dance Theatre (Adelaide), and the South Australian Opera.
Anna has taught at the Australian Dance Theatre School (Adelaide), College of Performing Arts (Adelaide), Victorian College of Arts (Melbourne) and opened her own school dance school, Dance Partners, in Albert Park. She also taught for many years at the Tony Bartuccio Dance Centre and The Australian Conservatoire of Dance, under Christine Walsh.
In 2003 Anna was appointed a Grades Examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance [RAD] and currently holds the status of RAD Tutor for both Teacher and Student Courses.
Claudia is a Queensland based dancer, actor & singer who has studied a Bachelor of Musical Theatre (CON) and in the Immersive Program at The fACTORy Acting Studio. Claudia has extensive
performance experience across stage/theatre, commercials and film, as well as teaching ballet, jazz, tap & contemporary.

Marnie is an upcoming dancer, actor and singer. Graduating from Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance musical theatre course in 2018, Marnie has since been performing at various corporate gigs such as AFL grand final revue show, AMWAY Japan, Royal flying Doctors Ball and many others.
Marnie is hardworking and dedicated to her craft always continuing to expand her knowledge and skills. She has been teaching for 6 years and has her CSTD teachers certificate in both the tap and jazz syllabus. She has taught a variety of styles and ages in both Brisbane and Melbourne.
Amber holds a diploma in Dance from QDSE, a Bachelor of Fine Arts(Dance) from QUT and has completed her certification in Ballet Teaching Studies from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). She is currently studying a Master of Early Childhood Education at QUT. Amber was a student at Premier Dance from 2001-2014 and a student teacher from 2010-2013.
Musical Theatre & Drama
Marcia Penman comes from a background of performing, particularly in Musical Theatre. After completing her Bachelor at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, Marcia moved down to Melbourne to pursue performing. Last year she wrote and produced her own cabaret at The Butterfly Club entitled Julie and Julia: The Women of Australian Politics. She has a vast range of experience and training in all performing styles, working professionally as a singer, dancer and actor. Some of her credits include Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols, Gold Coast Bleach Festival, The Secret Garden and Rent.

Since graduating, she has worked with Velvet Motion Entertainment at numerous corporate events around Brisbane and the Gold Coast as a professional dancer. For the last few years Lauren has also been teaching at studios across Brisbane, inspiring kids of all ages. She one day hopes to land a contract with an international cruise line company to broaden her experiences and knowledge within the entertainment industry.
Lauren has a strong passion for teaching and loves working with children. She believes in creating a fun and supportive environment to help children overcome challenges and become the superstar performers she knows they can be.
Errol is trained in Street Dance Styles, including by some of the originators from the United States & around the world:
Breaking (Break Dance), Lockin, Poppin, House Dance, Krump, Urban Choreography.
Errol has training in Commercial Dance, Commecial Jazz, Indigenous Contemporary, Traditional Filipino & Islander Culural Dance. In the professional choreography realm, he has choreographed many professional groups in the following styles: Cheerleading, Burlesque, Urban-Burlesque, Modern Jazz.
Errol has choreographed for many sporting events including State of Origin, QLD Firebirds and AFL. He has been the Creative Director for the Brisbane Bullets entertainment since 2007 and is their cheerleaders' choreographer & manager.
Miss Brittany has worked at Premier Dance as a teacher since 2015. She has completed RAD syllabus to Advanced 2, holds a CSTD Jazz teaching diploma, CSTD tap teaching certificate and has also recently graduated with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology. Brittany will begin working as a Speech Pathologist in 2020 as well as continuing to teach jazz classes at Premier Dance.
A versatile performer with an energetic and quirky style is what you can expect from Rachel Dowse. Trained in multiple studio and street styles Rachel is credited for being a high energy performer and unique choreographer. She has performed in international productions like Ringling
Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus in America, played Marilyn Monroe at Universal Studios Japan and toured across Australia as a teacher and choreographer. Rachel works consistently in her home city of Brisbane with major studios such as MAD Dance House, Raw Company, Phluxus2 Dance Collective as well as performing and choreographing for local artists, studios, high schools, major events and shows like Coterie Cabaret, Brisbane Broncos NRL and Womens Legal
Services Dancing CEO’s! Rachel recently performed in Platform Creatives show “Ooh La La”, the 2022 Logies Awards and is touring Australia with the burlesque parody of Shrek, Shreklesque!
Stretch & Conditioning
Belen is an experienced dance and acrobatics teacher, and is a certified Mat Pilates instructor. She holds a Diploma in Performing Arts from ED5International in Sydney, is a certified Progressing Ballet Technique teacher, as well as an Acrobatic Arts Module 1 & Module 2 certified teacher. Alongside her teaching commitments, Belen is also currently studying a Bachelor of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at the University of Queensland.
Kurt Myhill is a passionate and enthusiastic performer who has a love for musical theatre, dance, and choreography. He has achieved Certificate II in Live Production, Certificate III in Dance, a Diploma of Musical Theatre and is currently completing a Bachelor of Musical Theatre at the Queensland Conservatorium. In September of 2019, he made his professional debut in ‘THE WIZARD OF OZ’. Kurt’s other credits include Swing in Altitude Theatres ‘Producers’, Dennis in Harvest Rain’s production of ‘ALL SHOOK UP’, Dance Captain of Lynch and Paterson’s ‘PIRATES OF PENZANCE’ and many more.
