CONCERT PERFORMER REQUIREMENTS

Performer Requirements by Class:

​

Creative Dance, Pre-Kindy, Kindy, Prep Dance, Beginner Dance & all RAD Ballet grades girls require:

  • Ballet Shoes – leather OR canvas

  • Ballet Tights in either Ballet Pink (to match canvas shoes) OR Salmon Pink (to match leather shoes)

  • Undergarment – Beige Leotard or Briefs

 

Pre-Kindy, Kindy,  Prep Dance, Beginner Dance & all RAD Ballet grades boys require:

  • Black Leggings

  • Black Socks

  • Black Ballet Shoes – leather or canvas

Tiny Jazz & Tap/Mini Jazz & Tap girls require:

  • Tan Tap Shoes

  • Ballet Tights in either Ballet Pink OR Salmon Pink 

  • Undergarment – Beige Leotard or Briefs​​

 

Tiny Jazz & Tap/Mini Jazz & Tap boys require:

  • Black Leggings

  • Black Socks

  • Black Tap Shoes

Tap (up to Sub-Senior), Jazz & Musical Theatre girls require:

  • Tan tap/jazz shoes

  • Bronze jazz tights 

  • Undergarment – Beige Leotard or Briefs

Senior & Advanced Tap girls require:

  • Black Tap Shoes

  • Black fishnet tights 

  • Undergarment – Beige Leotard or Briefs

Tap, Jazz & Musical Theatre boys require:

  • Black tap/jazz shoes

  • Black socks

  • Black leggings

Junior 1 Hip Hop only:

  • Plain white sneakers (should have no other colour)

  • White socks

  • Undergarment – Beige Leotard or Briefs (girls)

All other Hip Hop:

  • Plain black sneakers (should have no other colour)

  • White socks

  • Undergarment – Beige Leotard or Briefs (girls)

Acro:

  • No shoes or tights required - bare feet only

  • Undergarment – Beige Leotard or Briefs

Singing:

  • Bronze Jazz Tights

  • Tan Jazz Shoes

  • Undergarment – Beige Leotard or Briefs

UNDERGARMENTS

We highly recommend that all girls have a dance undergarment to wear underneath their costumes such as a skin tone leotard or plain high cut briefs. No bright colours, patterns, images, boy leg or low cut as these will be seen under costumes. This is a suitable style available from Bonds. Boys may wear underwear of their choice under their black leggings.

 

TIGHTS

Should be in the closest shade to the colour of your child’s ballet shoes – Ballet Pink (to match canvas shoes) or Salmon Pink (to match leather shoes). We sell KNJ brand tights at our uniform shop in both Ballet Pink and Salmon Pink.

 

SHOES

Ballet shoes from any reputable dancewear brand are acceptable. These can be canvas or leather, split sole or full sole, in a ballet pink/beige colour (girls) or black (boys). These should come with one or two elastics pre-sewn across the foot – no ribbons.

 

We sell MDM brand shoes (canvas) at our uniform shop.

 

Tap Shoes and Jazz Shoes should be tan coloured (girls) or black coloured (boys). We sell PW brand tap shoes and MDM brand jazz shoes at our uniform shop.

 

WHERE TO BUY

Tights can be ordered on our website and picked up at your child's class, or purchased at the uniform shop/admin desk. All shoes need to be tried on so please see the reception desk at Milton or Clayfield. Dance undergarments are available from the following dancewear stores - Bloch (Fortitude Valley), Sue's Shop (Indooroopilly), Step By Step (Brendale). These stores also stock tights and shoes. We do not recommend purchasing dance shoes or tights from discount retailers like Kmart/Big W etc.

 

HAIR & MAKEUP

As we are performing under theatrical lighting, some stage makeup is highly recommended for all performers to ensure their beautiful faces can be seen by the audience. As we are performing in a professional theatre with strong stage lighting, faces on stage can appear very washed out to the audience and on the video. We recommend - matte foundation, blush/bronzer, brown eyeshadow, brown/black eyeliner & mascara, red stay-fast lipstick. Please no coloured eyeshadows or glitter.

 

All Ballet, Company, Contemporary and Junior Dancers (Creative - Prep) must wear their hair in a neat ballet bun, secured at the centre back of the head with a strong hair elastic, hair net, bun pins and hairspray. You may use a bun donut in the smallest size (max. 6cm) for girls with very fine hair. All other styles should wear a slick pony tail, secured at the back of the head with a strong hair elastic & hairspray. Boys and girls with short hair styles should have hair styled neatly off the face with hairspray/gel.
